Onuachu credits teammates for goal scoring run
Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu has deflected individual praise onto his Trabzonspor teammates after extending his record-breaking scoring run to eight consecutive games in Friday’s 3-1 Super Lig victory over Fatih Karagumruk, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Onuachu opened the scoring in the 20th minute before fellow Nigerian Chibuike Nwaiwu netted twice after the break to seal the points, with the 31-year-old also providing the assist for Nwaiwu’s second goal with a headed pass in the 50th minute.
Speaking to beIN Sports after the match, Onuachu was characteristically modest about his contribution.
“We started the game a bit slowly. At halftime, we talked with our teammates and coach in the locker room. We discussed the need to increase our energy and give more. After that conversation, the team reacted well, and we managed to get the three points,” he said.
